Yorke departs Bulls, former Socceroo tipped to take charge

Ex-Socceroo Mile Sterjovski looks set to take over at Macarthur FC, after the shock exit of Manchester United great Dwight Yorke.

Yorke and Macarthur have parted ways just less than four months after he won the Australia Cup and less than seven months after he was appointed.

It’s understood that Yorke, 51, and the Macarthur board clashed after a stinging post-game address after the 1-0 loss at Adelaide United on Friday night.

Tensions arose before Christmas, after Yorke returned from fulfilling commentary commitments at the FIFA World Cup.

Sterjovski is Macarthur’s academy coach and has been involved with the expansion club from the outset in 2020.

In addition to being second assistant to Macarthur’s inaugural coach Ante Milicic, he also coached the club’s NPL side.

Sterjovski, 43, won 43 caps and scored eight goals for the Socceroos and was a key member of the 2006 World Cup squad.Macarthur are mid-table, on 17 points with five wins, two draws and six losses.
