Wanderers star: We’ll fight for everything in ACL clash

Wanderers playmaker Nico Martínez says Western Sydney is ready to fight for their AFC Champions League lives against FC Seoul in what’s shaping up to be a do-or-die clash in Korea on Wednesday night.

Both the Wanderers and FC are without a point so far in the competition.

With Group F front runners Shanghai SIPG and Urawa Red Diamonds playing each other, it presents a huge opportunity for either side to work their way back into the qualification frame.

On the flip side, a loss for either will put a substantial dent in any hopes of reaching the knockout stages and it’s a situation Martínez says is not lost on the Wanderers.

Martinez says Wanderers are ready to fight

“We know it’s a crucial game for us.

“It’s going to be very important and we know that Seoul are a very good team but we’ve come here to take the three points.

“It’s going to be difficult but we’re focused. We’ll fight to the last minute of the game to achieve the three points that we need.”

Wanderers refreshed after A-League free weekend

“We’ve refreshed our minds and our bodies and we’re able to focus completely on Seoul. After we can think about the league at home,” Martinez said.

“We’re in the best physical condition I think—we’ve been working towards this for the last six months to be able to finish the season strong and healthy.

“We’re on the right path.”
