Western Sydney Wanderers v Perth Glory
Saturday 14 December 2013
Marconi Stadium, Sydney
Local kick-off: 2pm
There will be little margin for error in Sydney-s west with both the Wanderers and the visiting Perth Glory needing all three points to make sure they stay in touch with the leading pack. The Wanderers claimed a 2-0 win on home turf last year but this is shaping as an evenly balanced contest.
Western Sydney Wanderers are hoping the worst of their horror run with injuries is now behind them. The week-s break due to Sydney FC-s commitments at the International Women-s Club Championship was a timely one. Coach Steve Roach has been able to select goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold and the evergreen Heather Garriock in his provisional squad, with young Westfield Matildas defender Alanna Kennedy also named after remaining on the bench a fortnight ago.
Perth Glory claimed three crucial points last week thanks to a last-gasp winner from Rosie Sutton, and the Glory will be hoping it marks a return to winning form after consecutive hefty defeats. Coach Jamie Harnwell will be looking to the guile and experience of midfield ace Collette McCallum to unlock a relatively experienced Wanderers defence, with goals proving hard to come by for the Glory since the opening round.
