Sydney FC have pulled off a major coup, luring star forward Fiona Worts away from Adelaide United.

Worts brings firepower and pedigree to the Sky Blues, having claimed the Julie Dolan Medal and A-League Women Golden Boot following her 13-goal campaign in 2021-22.

The English forward has scored 18 goals in 39 appearances across three seasons with Adelaide, though Worts only managed to bag three last term as the Reds went from semi-finalists to missing the finals altogether.

She is on a mission to rediscover her best form in Sydney.

“I’m excited to be joining a club that has been so historically and recently successful,” Worts said.

“There’s great talent in the squad and I look forward to working with them and with Ante.

“I want to get back to my best self on the pitch and contribute to another great season for the club.

“I think it’s been a great year for women’s football and Australia blew away my expectations with the world cup. I can’t wait to see what that brings to the A-League this season.”
