“It’s surreal to be honest, I love the club, I love Roar and being a young lad watching the games, I’ve always wanted to play for the Roar. I’ve always dreamt of it, and to finally do that is just unreal,” MacNicol said., having grown up as a Brisbane supporter.

“So far the physical aspect has helped me a lot, playing with all the senior boys, and their encouragement on the field has just been amazing.

“You can really tell that the environment and culture here is what you need in a football club.”

MacNicol, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Australia Cup quarter-final against Western Sydney Wanderers, added: “Ross has been excellent with me, he puts so much support in me and trust in me and lets me go out there and play my game, and that’s all you need.

“I just want to get as many minutes as I can in, and just help the team as much as I can.”

“For Quinny it’s about his development, he’s already developed within our pre-season, which has been outstanding,” Aloisi said.

“He’s a different type of footballer than a lot of other footballers. He’s very slim in physique, but his football brain and his technical ability is absolutely outstanding.

“We are just looking to help improve that, and hopefully over the course of this season he gets to play a number of games and progress leading into the future.”
