Pitch issues force Macarthur match switch to Newcastle

The Macarthur Bulls v Wellington Phoenix match scheduled for Sunday has been relocated to Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium after the pitch at Campbelltown Stadium was deemed substandard for the Isuzu UTE A-League.

The Bulls’ first game of the new season will now be played as a double header at McDonald Jones Stadium following the Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners game already scheduled there. The Macarthur game will have a 6:45pm AEDT kick off.

A-Leagues Commissioner Greg O’Rourke said the ground renovation project at Campbelltown Stadium had been unable to bring the pitch up to an acceptable standard for round 1.

O’Rourke added that the decision to move the match was made in alignment with both Macarthur Bulls and Wellington Phoenix in order to ensure the best match delivery possible for fans and broadcast.
