Perth Glory sign English forward with ‘inspiring story’ and ‘impressive history’ in football

Perth Glory have continued to bolster their attacking stocks with the signature of former England youth international Millie Farrow ahead of the 2023-24 Liberty A-League season.

The 27-year-old is set to arrive in the West with considerable experience accrued over a career that has taken her to Chelsea, Bristol City, Reading, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and most recently to North Carolina Courage in the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Farrow was capped as an Under-19 and Under-23 for England as a promising young prospect; at club level she won the FA Women’s Super League and FA Cup double with Chelsea in 2015, and the FA Women’s Championship with Leicester six years later.

Glory head coach Alex Epakis expressed his delight in bringing a “mature and well-rounded individual” into his ranks with an “impressive and inspiring story away from football” – and he’s not wrong: Farrow has battled through a number of serious injuries in her career, all the while learning to live with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Farrow has written her own book about her struggles titled “Brave Enough Not To Quit”.

The new Glory recruit says she’s hungry for success in the Liberty A-League as she signs on with the Western Australian outfit.

“After talking with (Alex Epakis) and hearing the ambitions and values of the club, I felt it was the perfect fit,” Farrow said.

“It’s a very exciting opportunity and I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started.

“Personally, I’m determined to help the team in any way possible to reach their objectives.

“I’m hungry and ready to play some football in the sun!”

Farrow arrives at Glory soon after New Zealand international Grace Jale; together the two major recruits will combine as part of a vastly different attacking unit which Epakis will look to unleash in the 2023-24 season.

“Millie is another attack-minded player who has a great finishing ability and speed to run beyond lines,” Epakis said.

“She has an impressive history of being part of some great teams in Europe, with the England youth set-up and in the US.

“She is a mature and well-rounded individual who will add some strong football experience into the team.

“Her partnership with our other attacking players is something that excites me a lot because we want to be an attack-focused team with different scoring options.

“Millie has an impressive and inspiring story away from football and she will no doubt prove to be a great mentor and leader within the group.”
