New coach, new club, new outlook for Bulls signing Aspropotamitis

Macarthur FC head coach Dwight Yorke has added depth to his defensive stocks by securing the signature of former Perth Glory centre-back Jonathan Aspropotamitis on a one-season deal.

The 26-year-old, with 96 ALM appearances to his name amassed between stints at Perth, Western United, Central Coast and Western Sydney Wanderers, becomes the Bulls’ fourth signing of the off-season to date, alongside Jerry Skotadis, Jed Drew and Eddie Caspers.

Aspropotamitis made his professional debut in March, 2015 for the Wanderers. It was the third season of the club’s existence; Aspropotamitis joins Macarthur at an identical phase in his new club’s existence, with season three of Macarthur’s ALM venture offering the defender a familiar environment he’s eager to become a key part of.

“The Bulls are a relatively new club and I’ve been part of new clubs before and there is that exciting feeling about it which I like,” Aspropotamitis told club media.

“With the new coach and some new players, I think the squad is coming together nicely, it’s exciting to be here.

“I’m thrilled we get to get back into things next week at training. I’m feeling refreshed from the off season, it was a tough season for everyone, and I think now we’ve had that break, a lot of the players, including myself will be looking forward to get into training and prepared for upcoming games.”

Aspropotamitis’ first opportunity to run out in his new club colours comes in the Australia Cup Round of 32 against Magpies Crusaders. The Round of 32 is scheduled to begin from July 21, with fixture details soon to be confirmed.
