A-LEAGUES INS AND OUTS: BIG-NAME ARRIVALS SET TO DEBUT

Reno Piscopo – Newcastle Jets

  • Price: $236K
  • Ownership: 22%
  • Average points: 5.5

“This is my best game for the Jets and I can do better,” Piscopo told Paramount+, after dominating for Newcastle Jets in a 4-0 win over Brisbane Roar in Round 14.

“I spoke with the boss and we discussed my role. I was playing as a winger majority of the time. I came on last week as an eight and a 10 and I felt very comfortable there so we decided to go with that again, get more on the ball and try and create more and help the team.”

The cut-price midfielder has been somewhat of a disappointment for his fantasy owners to date this season, but remains one of the most-owned players in the game ( in 22% of teams). Managers who have shown patience with the Jets creator could be rewarded with Piscopo’s shift in position from out wide to central areas.

David Williams – Perth Glory

  • Price: $342K
  • Ownership: 1%
  • Average points: 6.0

A player who should be featuring in your thoughts when weighing up transfers ahead of Round 15, Perth Glory’s David Williams is benefiting from a run in Ruben Zadkovich’s starting XI, and has pitched in with three goals and one assist in his last three games alone.

Williams pitched in with a brace against Wellington Phoenix in Round 14, scoring the goals to earn his side a draw on the road. Adam Taggart’s return from a one-week absence puts that starting berth at risk, but his continued recovery from a thigh injury means Williams should should retain his starting spot to continue his purple patch.

Nectarios Triantis – Central Coast

  • Price: $258K
  • Ownership: 3%
  • Average points: 4.5

A deflection off the chest of Jason Cummings robbed Nectarios Triantis a maiden A-League Men goal in a 2-2 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 14. Instead, the 19-year-old defender walked away with an assist and a 13-point fantasy haul.

Triantis has eclipsed the 10 point mark on three occasions this season, and two of those have come in his last four outings for the Mariners.

Jacob Farrell and Brian Kaltak are the popular choices from the Mariners’ defence – but Triantis comes in third for total points in his side’s backline, and costs almost $200K less than the two premium Mariners defenders respectively.

Yeni Ngbakoto – Western Sydney Wanderers

  • Price: $288K
  • Ownership: 1%
  • Average points: 7.1

Brandon Borrello is pulling clear as the Wanderers’ prime offensive points scorer – but as you look for differential picks to move your squad up the fantasy leaderboard, consider Yeni Ngbakoto who is more than $100K cheaper, and capable of an impressive points haul.

Ngbakoto’s 15-point score in Round 14 was his best of the campaign so far, with his goal netted against the Mariners earning Goal of the Week honours.

Ngbakoto and the Wanderers face Western United this weekend; the champions have the league’s leakiest defence, with 26 goals conceed from 14 games.

Valon Berisha – Melbourne City
