James Meredith called time on his playing career but the former Socceroo will remain in Campbelltown after joining Macarthur FC’s coaching staff.
Ex-Macarthur defender Meredith retired at the end of the last Isuzu UTE A-League season, however, he will now work alongside new Bulls head coach and Manchester United great Dwight Yorke.
The 34-year-old has called Macarthur home since their inaugural A-League Men campaign, making 40 ALM appearances and scoring three goals.
“I look forward to working under great professionals and a good team,” said Meredith, who will also work with assistant coach Russell Latapy.
“To join the ranks with the likes of Anthony Crea, his wealth of experience and knowledge is something I can take on board and use to further my career.
“With the new appointments of Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy, it is a great honour to be by their side in the coaching ranks with both being such great players and professionals.
“They bring different ideas to the club, and I look forward to the journey ahead.”
Before joining Macarthur from Perth Glory in 2020, Meredith had spent his career in Europe via Derby County, Cambridge United, Chesterfield, Sligo Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, AFC Telford United, York City, Bradford City and Millwall.
