The Matildas will end an historic 2023 with a two match friendly series against Olympic Gold medallists Canada in December, with both matches to take place in Victoria and Vancouver.

Australia will spend the final FIFA international window of the year in Vancouver, before facing the current world number 10 at Starlight Stadium in Victoria on Friday, December 1 (Saturday, December 2 AEDT).

They will then meet them again three days later on Tuesday, December 5 (Wednesday, December 6) at BC Place in Vancouver.

The final match will also be a farewell for women’s football legend and Canada captain, Christine Sinclair – who announced her international retirement last week.

“This year has been remarkable for the Matildas. The team have shattered ceilings and set new standards, forever changing the Australian sporting landscape,” Football Australia CEO James Johnson said.

“We have witnessed the benefits of investing in the team for tournament preparation by securing and scheduling matches against high-ranking nations and this is a strategy we believe will continue to be advantageous as the team continues their Paris 2024 qualification journey.

“Football Australia and Canada Soccer Association have developed a strong relationship over the past two years, and we thank CSA for their co-operation in providing both our nations with world class opposition.”

The clashes against Canada end a fantastic calendar year for the Matildas, headlined by an incredible run to the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Australia played Canada in the group stage of the tournament, defeating Bev Priestman’s side 4-0 in Melbourne to book their place in the Round of 16.
