Matildas star nominated for top European award

Chloe Logarzo, Emily Gielnik and Elise Kellond-Knight have all spoken about the positive news that the Liberty Pass, which grants free access to kids under 16 years old to Liberty A-League matches, will be available this upcoming season.

Matildas star Mary Fowler has been recognised as one of the world’s top young stars, after being nominated for the 2023 European Golden Girl award overnight.

It caps off a brilliant year for Fowler, who flourished for the national team during their historic run to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

She has since returned to club side Manchester City and started the new season strongly after a difficult 2022-23 campaign.

Fowler – who was also nominated for the award in 2022 – is one of 10 players to be nominated for the gong alongside the likes of Colombia and Real Madrid star Linda Caicedo, World Cup winner and Barcelona attacker Salma Paralluelo and Italian teenager Giulia Dragoni.

The Golden Girl award was minted by Italian publication Tuttosport last year, to run alongside the Golden Boy and Golden Player – for both men’s and women’s award – and is awarded to the best under 21 women’s footballer in Europe over a calendar year, as voted by sports journalists in the continent.

German star Jule Brand won the inaugural award last year.
