Fantasy Review: Bulls defender can’t stop scoring

Matt Millar: goalscoring machine?

The Macarthur defender has become an unlikely source of goals this season for the Bulls, shooting to the top of their goalscoring charts after firing home his fourth of the campaign in their 2-2 draw with Western United.

Remarkably, only five players have scored more goals than Millar this season alone!

As a result, he’s becoming a must-get for fantasy owners who are looking to shore up their defensive stocks.

These are the key headlines from the weekend’s fantasy action across the A-Leagues.

Millar’s been red-hot in A-Leagues Fantasy as of late, averaging 12.3 points over his three games and surging to second among all defenders for total points in the entire game (123 points).

Only Western United’s Josh Risdon (128) has scored more than the Bulls right-back, who tallied totals of 13, 15 and 16 among his last four games – along with a respectable six points against Adelaide United.

His price has increased by a whopping $245.2K this season, taking his overall price to $437.2K as one of the more expensive defenders in the game.

However, should his form continue, that price is only expected to rise in the weeks to come as he’s tallied rises of over $30K in each of the last two weeks.

Essentially, get on him now!

Glory striker hits the scoreboard again

Talk about a purple patch.

David Williams has rocketed to the top of in-form fantasy players at the moment, off the back of a brace and a whopping 21 fantasy points in Perth Glory’s 2-2 draw with Wellington Phoenix.

Williams’ tally was the equal-highest of any A-League Men’s Fantasy player (alongside Reno Piscopo) last round, continuing a recent hot-streak of scoring more than 11 points in each of his last three.

After a slow star to the season, the veteran striker has started to hit his straps. Williams’ price went up a whopping $104.7K this week, taking his overall price to a still affordable $342.7K. which should be considered if owners are looking for another spoke to their attacking trio.

However, tread with caution as Taggart’s impending return could see Williams lose his spot in the team – unless Ruben Zadkovich opts for a front two with the in-form duo leading the line.

Hawkesby puts in yet another monster performance

Mackenzie Hawkesby is well and truly dominating A-League Women’s Fantasy

The Sydney FC midfielder tallied yet another huge score in Round 12, recording 26 points in the Sky Blues’ huge 6-3 win over Melbourne Victory.

Hawkesby got on the scoresheet herself whilst but also turned provider on Thursday, playing an integral role in the midfield three alongside Sarah Hunter and Shay Hollman.

Incredibly, Hawkesby failed to score more than eight points in a single round through her first four appearances of the season.

But since then, she has rocketed to third overall among all players in the game and is averaging the most of anyone else over the last five rounds (20.2 ppg).

Hawkesby’s fantasy value is now $640.2K – making her the most expensive player in the game by a long stretch and that price could continue to surge well beyond that mark, should she continue to score at the level she has been over the last five weeks.

Sydney FC and Western United dominate Team of the Week

Sydney FC and Western United players dominated this week’s A-League Women’s Fantasy Team of the Week – with seven players making the XI.

Sydney FC attacker Cortnee Vine tallied the most points with 29, while Hawkesby (26), hat-trick hero Princess Ibini (26) making up the Sky Blue contingent after huge outings against Melbourne Victory.

Western United’s quadrant is led by Sydney Cummings who scored the most of all defenders (25), while Golden Boot leader Hannah Keane (23), Melissa Taranto (23) and Angie Beard (21) all tallied huge scores in their 5-0 win over Canberra United.

Wellington Phoenix midfielder Grace Wisnewski was the second-highest scoring midfielder with a huge 25 points and Western Sydney Wanderers’ Olivia Price (17) rounded out the midfield four after hitting the back of the net in their 1-0 win over Newcastle Jets.

Melbourne City’s Julia Grosso (17 points) rounded out the back-three, while Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Miranda Templeman scored a huge 21 points after saving two penalties.

Incredibly, she came off the bench!

Meanwhile, in A-League Men’s Fantasy, Williams and Piscopo led the way with 21 points apiece – with the latter being joined by four Newcastle players.

The Jets’ 4-0 win over Brisbane Roar meant there would be some big scorers, with defensive trio Jason Hoffman (19 points), Matthew Jurman (16) and Jack Duncan (14) all featuring – while Jaushua Sotirio’s goal and assist helped him to 19 points.

Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Brandon Borrello rounded out the front-three with 18 points after scoring on Saturday night, while Adelaide’s Craig Goodwin and Victory’s Jake Brimmer both slotted in with 18 and 16 points apiece.

Millar’s 16 points also got himself a spot in the back-four, along with United’s Spanish defender Javi Lopez – who tallied 16 of his own.
