Mariners announce second Liberty A-League signing as cryptic message hints at future plans

Central Coast Mariners have revealed midfielder Bianca Galic as the club’s second signing ahead of a maiden Liberty A-League campaign.

Galic, 24, joins Annalise Rasmussen in putting pen to paper on a contract with the A-League Women expansion side, as head coach Emily Husband begins to piece together the club’s inaugural playing squad.

In a cryptic social media post, the club has suggested a further five contracts have been signed, and yet to be announced, including an overseas striker, with a further five offers tabled including a bid for a defender on a VISA contract.

Galic, who has played one season at both Canberra United and Western Sydney Wanderers, says linking up with Husband – who has coached her at Sydney University – is an exciting prospect.

“I’m super excited to be able to sign with the Central Coast Mariners,” she said.

“i have had Emily coach me at Sydney University for a couple of seasons as well as having her as assistant when I was at Canberra United, so to have her as my head coach at the Mariners will be great,” Galic said.

“I will bring a never give up attitude to the Central Coast. I will always give 100% and do anything to help the team win. With the season coming up in just a few months I can’t wait to get started.”

Galic played under Husband at Sydney University this season after recovering from an ACL injury.

“For me, Bianca is a really special player,” Husband said. “She has a lot of versatility, being able to play anywhere in the midfield or even across the front three if needed. She has had a really promising few months coming back from her ACL injury and I know that she is going to push on from here.

“As a midfielder she has played alongside some fantastic players who have gone on to do some amazing things. I am extremely thrilled to have Bianca join the team this season and see her playing a pivotal role this campaign.”
