Catley and Kerr among the best in the Women’s Champions League last season

A-Leagues legends Steph Catley and Sam Kerr provided moments of brilliance in the 2021-22 Women’s Champions League and their stunning goals have been recognised by UEFA.

UEFA released its Technical Report, with Arsenal’s Catley (third) and Chelsea superstar Kerr (sixth) among the top 10 goals scored in the women’s European competition last season.

Catley ranked inside the top three for her sublime free-kick, behind Lyon pair Amandine Henry (first – final) and Ada Hegerberg (second – semi-final second leg).

A five-time A-League Women champion, former Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City star Catley opened the scoring in Arsenal’s 5-1 rout of HB Koge in November last year, curling a free-kick into the top corner.

Former Perth Glory and Sydney FC star Kerr – who won the Premiership and Championship during her time in Australia – was involved in Chelsea’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Wolfsburg on matchday one in October last year.

The Ballon d’Or nominee looped the ball over the onrushing keeper to give Chelsea an early lead.
