Arsenal confirm Sydney FC, Wanderers fixtures

English Premier League giants Arsenal have confirmed fixtures against Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in July 2017, with tickets to go on sale in July this year.

The Sky Blues will be playing the Gunners on Thursday 13 July 2017 at ANZ Stadium, the first match in their tour.

Arsenal will then tackle Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday 15 July 2017 at the same venue.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata said he was excited to be hosting one of the World’s biggest clubs.

“It’s fantastic that our club will be the first Australian team in more than 40 years to be playing host to the giants of Arsenal.

“I’m delighted that our Sky Blues supporters will be the first to see their club take on one of England’s premier clubs next year and I’m sure it will be fantastic occasion to rival our matches against Chelsea and Tottenham last season.”

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres expects the event to attract fans from around the globe.

“Football fans around Australia and the World can now lock this date in their diary, and book their trip to Sydney’s ANZ Stadium for a blockbuster match against the Sky Blues,” Mr Ayres said.

“The Arsenal tour has been secured exclusively for Sydney by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, and I can’t wait to welcome Arsenal to our shores in just over 12 months’ time.”

Arsenal Chief Executive Officer Ivan Gazidis added: “Our pre-season matches enable the squad to complete final preparations ahead of a new campaign, and Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers will provide a strong test for the team.”

“The trip also gives our travelling squad a wonderful opportunity to see our loyal supporters in a country so passionate about football; it’s set to be a truly special trip and everyone at Arsenal Football Club is already looking forward to it.”
