Canadian international goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx has signed with Melbourne City on a two-year deal, fresh from being a member of their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad.
Proulx arrives at the club after most recently playing for Portuguese side SCU Torreense, where she made 17 appearances last season en route to earning a call-up to Bev Priestman’s squad for the World Cup.
The 24-year-old didn’t feature in any of Canada’s three games, serving as back-up alongside Sabrina D’Angelo to first choice keeper Kailen Sheridan. Proulx was also part of the Canada side that won silver at the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship in Mexico.
However, she is still yet to earn a senior cap despite being called up to a myriad of squads in the last 12 months.

She now arrives at City looking to establish herself as the club’s number one goalkeeper, in wake of Young Matilda Sally James’ departure to Perth Glory this off-season.
“I experienced the fantastic atmosphere firsthand in Australia for the World Cup, and I can’t wait to get started at Melbourne City,” Proulx said.
“I’ve heard Melbourne City is a great club that’s been a leader in the women’s game, and I’ve come here to help the team win more silverware.”
Before breaking into their senior squad, Proulx also represented Canada at two U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cups and the 2016 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
City coach Dario Vidosic described Proulx’s arrival as a “huge boost” to their squad ahead of the upcoming Liberty A-League season.

“We are pleased to have Lysianne on board, to add more World Cup experience to our squad is a huge boost that will only make us stronger,” City coach Dario Vidosic said.
“She’s a quality goalkeeper and will bring international experience both on and off the pitch.
“We’re building an exciting squad of individuals and Lysianne has already had a taste of the incredible atmosphere our football fans can bring.”
Proulx is the club’s third new signing this off-season, joining Rebekah Stott and Laura Hughes as City’s latest arrivals.
City kick-off their Liberty A-League season away to Wellington Phoenix on October 15.
