Attacker links up with Perth Glory, confident of rediscovering his best form

Perth Glory have announced the signing of versatile attacker Bruce Kamau for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Kamau joins the club after his contract at Greek outfit OFI Crete came to an end recently, following a loan spell with Melbourne Victory in the second-half of last season.

The 28-year-old initially burst onto the scene with Adelaide United, helping them win the 2014 Australia Cup and the 2016 Isuzu UTE A-League Championship, before playing for the likes of Melbourne City and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Kamau’s most recent full season in the A-Leagues was his most successful, scoring nine goals, which earned him a move to Greece in 2021.

The attacker believes he’s landed in the right environment to get the best out of himself under new Glory boss Alen Stajcic.

“After speaking to not only the Head Coach [Alen Stajcic] and his staff, but also other people that have worked with him or know him in a football capacity, working under him is part of the reason why I want to come to Perth,” he said.

“I believe that he can help me get the best out of myself.

“I want to get back to playing consistently and enjoying my football and I think we’ll surprise a lot of people.

“It’s not a case of going there just to be competitive and make up the numbers in the league.

“I personally want to have as much success as I can with the team and strive to win silverware and championships.

“I wouldn’t be returning to the A-League if I wasn’t confident in my abilities and what I can do on the pitch.

“I’m looking to return to the kind of form and quality that I had in my last season at Western Sydney and not just replicate that, but build upon it and have a better and brighter season.”

Stajcic added: “Bruce is a dynamic and creative attacking player that will add extra weapons to our offensive play.

“He is an experienced A-League player who has continually shown his influence in scoring and assisting goalscoring actions.”

Kamau is the club’s third off-season arrival, joining Oliver Sail and Aleksandar Susnjar – who signed for Perth last Friday.
