Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed four exits, including trio of Euro imports

Western Sydney Wanderers may have ended their Isuzu UTE A-League finals drought but there are changes coming, with four departures announced on Wednesday.

European trio Morgan Schneiderlin, Romain Amalfitano and Yeni Ngbakoto have farewelled the Wanderers at the end of their contracts, while scholarship goalkeeper Jack Warshawsky also leaves Western Sydney.

The Wanderers also released Terry Antonis on Thursday.

Former Manchester United and France star Schneiderlin, ex-Newcastle United midfielder Amalfitano and former Queens Park Rangers forward Ngbakoto arrived at the start of the season and helped lead the club back to the Finals Series for the first time since 2016-17.

But they won’t be back at Wanderland in 2023-24 following the team’s Elimination Final exit at the hands of cross-town city rivals Sydney FC.

“The Wanderers would like to thank all players for their contribution to the club and wish them all the best in the future,” a statement read.

Schneiderlin had already announced his exit earlier this month following the conclusion of his loan deal.

The 33-year-old arrived at the Wanderers in January on loan from Ligue 1 outfit Nice, making 12 appearances and scoring two goals – including the opener in their Elimination Final defeat to Sydney.

Schneiderlin’s contract at Nice also runs out at the end of this season, making him a free agent.

Countryman Amalfitano, 33, moved to Western Sydney at the start of the season as part of Marko Rudan’s rebuild and the attacking midfielder scored three goals in 25 appearances.

A veteran of Metz, QPR, Guingamp, Panathinaikos and Nancy, Congo DR international Ngbakoto found the back of the net four times across 19 matches.
