Mariners announce return of talented academy graduate on loan from Denmark

Central Coast Mariners have announced the return of young striker Jing Reec on a one-year loan deal from Danish side Aarhus GF.

Reec returns to the side after signing a five-year deal for Aarhus in 2021, having graduated from the Mariners Academy.

The 20-year-old striker initially signed for the Mariners from NPL New South Wales outfit Marconi Stallions – making one senior appearance as a substitute at the end of the 2020/21 season against Western United.

After making the move to Scandinavia, Reec went on to play 31 games for club’s under 19 outfit, scoring 10 goals and having a positive impact in the side’s reserve team as well – finding the net twice in eight games.

“I’m buzzing to be back with the boys. The season that just past for the Mariners, as well as the fans, players and their families was so special,” Reec said.

“For me to be given the chance to come back is something that I am very excited about and very proud of. I love the culture of the Mariners as a club, I love the fans and the fighting spirit that the team shows.

“I want to thank Monty and Serge for helping me out in my career so much. It’s now two times that they have brought me to the club, first in 2021 when I joined the academy and now bringing me back this season. I can’t wait to get started.”

Reec reunites with Nick Montgomery and assistant Sergio Raimundo, who initially brought him to the club prior to his role as senior head coach.

“Jing will add real power and presence to our young squad. He is a young player that Sergio and I signed at NPL level and his form saw him make his A-League debut and catch the eye of AGF,”  Montgomery said.

“To bring him back on loan will help him continue his journey and development, with both the  Mariners and AGF to benefit in the future.”

Reec is the club’s fourth new signing this off-season, joining the returning Alou Kuol, Jack Warshawsky and Nathan Paull.
