Clisby returns to Wanderland in search of ‘success and silverware’

Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed experienced defender Jack Clisby has returned to the club for his second stint in red and black, putting pen to paper on a two-season deal.

The 31-year-old left-back rejoins the club after a five-season absence, split across stints at Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory.

Clisby’s 209-game Isuzu UTE A-League career began in Perth in 2012. He then joined Melbourne City, before signing for the Wanderers in 2016. His first stint at Western Sydney spanned two seasons between 2016-18. Upon his return to the club, Clisby said he was excited to return to the club where he’s experienced some of his fondest memories as a player.

“The Wanderers are a big club and some of my fondest memories are here. I really loved the time that I spent in Western Sydney,” Clisby said.

“So when they contacted me with interest, I was really excited at the prospect of returning. The passion that the members and fans of Western Sydney have is amazing and I couldn’t be more eager to get going.

“I want success and silverware for the Wanderers. I believe the club is building a squad that can win the Championship.

“I’m excited to work under head coach Marko Rudan and the coaching staff as they are very driven towards the goals of succeeding as a football club.

“The club has come a long way since I was last there in regards to the new facilities and stadium.

“The stadium is fantastic and the training facilities are world-class. It’s an environment that I feel will prepare us to be in the best shape in every department for the season ahead.”

Clisby is Wanderers head coach Marko Rudan’s third signing of the off-season, after Olyroo Lachlan Brook and Dylan Pierias.
